UPI PAYMENT GUIDE

Free UPI QR Code Generator for India

Create a UPI payment QR code using your existing UPI ID, personalise a shop counter standee, and download your design as PNG, SVG or PDF. This free tool helps you prepare a payment display without designing one from scratch.

What is a UPI payment QR code?

A UPI QR code stores payment details such as the recipient's UPI ID. A customer scans it in a UPI payment app, checks the recipient and amount, and confirms the payment. UPI is operated by the National Payments Corporation of India. Read the official NPCI UPI FAQs for information about the payment system.

This generator creates a QR image for an existing UPI ID. It does not create a bank account, verify ownership of a UPI ID, or register your business as a merchant. For business payment acceptance, use the UPI ID and arrangements provided by your bank or payment provider.

How to create a UPI QR code online

  1. Select UPI Pay. Use the controls above to choose a single payment QR code.
  2. Enter your complete UPI ID. Copy it from your payment app, including the correct handle after the @ symbol. The sample details are placeholders; replace them with your own.
  3. Add the recipient or shop name. Use a clear display name. Customers should still verify the recipient shown in their payment app.
  4. Choose an optional amount and payment note. Leave the amount unset for a reusable QR where the customer enters the amount. A prefilled amount is useful for a specific payment request; check how it appears in the scanning app.
  5. Customise the design. Pick colours, a dot style and an optional centre logo. Keep the code readable.
  6. Test and download. Scan the preview with a UPI app, verify the recipient, then download PNG, SVG Vector or Export PDF.

Can customers scan it with Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm or BHIM?

The tool generates a UPI payment link for scanning in UPI apps. Test your finished code in the apps your customers use, including Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm or BHIM. Acceptance depends on a valid UPI ID, the scanning app and the recipient's account setup. A logo does not make a QR code an official QR issued by that brand.

Google Pay's guide to receiving money explains sharing a QR code for a sender to scan through a UPI app.

Make a shop counter standee and choose a print size

Select Tabletop Standee to add a shop heading, tagline and payment details. Choose the paper size from the toolbar. Match the size to your actual holder before printing.

Paper sizeTypical use
4 ? 6 inchesA compact counter display or matching photo holder.
5 ? 7 inchesA larger tabletop display with space for branding.
A4 sheetA wall notice, laminated payment sign or full-page print.
A4 multiple copiesSeveral small QR labels on one sheet; check each printed copy.

PNG is convenient for sharing an image. SVG keeps the QR artwork scalable. PDF is useful for a paper layout. Select a suitable export resolution and inspect the print preview; a pixel-size setting alone does not guarantee a particular physical print resolution.

Design tips for a QR code that is easier to scan

  • Use dark QR modules on a light background with strong contrast.
  • Preserve the clear border around the code. Avoid cropping it or placing text over it.
  • Keep centre logos small. Error correction can help, but it does not guarantee that every design will scan.
  • Test decorative dot styles and gradients before printing a batch.
  • Print at a readable size and test from the distance customers will use.
  • Recheck the printed code after lamination, especially under glare.

Check the recipient and confirm payments

Before displaying your code, scan it and verify the recipient in the payment app. If you change your UPI ID, generate and test a new QR. Confirm received payments in your own bank or payment app rather than relying only on a customer's screenshot. Never enter a UPI PIN or OTP into this generator.

Frequently asked questions

Is this UPI QR code generator free?

The generator is free to use for creating and exporting QR designs. This does not determine any charges or terms that your bank or payment provider may apply.

Do I need a UPI ID before creating the code?

Yes. Use an existing, active UPI ID from your bank or payment app. Entering a name or mobile number alone does not create a UPI account.

Can I add my shop logo and custom colours?

Yes. Open Design, Colors & Logo in the sidebar. Test the finished design after changing colours, patterns or logos.

Does the QR code expire?

A static QR image has no built-in expiry timer. Payment acceptance still depends on the linked UPI ID remaining active and on your provider's rules. Replace the code if the recipient details change.

Does generating a QR code confirm a payment?

No. Generating or scanning a QR code does not prove that money was received. Check the completed transaction in your bank or payment app.

Why is my printed QR code not scanning?

Check contrast, print sharpness, the clear margin and logo size. Try a plain square design without a logo, export it again and test a fresh print.
