How to Make a 3.5 x 4.5 cm Passport Photo

This guide shows you how to use Passport Photo Studio and what to check before using the downloaded file.

Check the requested size first

3.5 x 4.5 cm is a common photo size, but an application may specify different dimensions, background, file format or file-size limit. Read those instructions before editing your photo.

Prepare the single photo

Open Passport Photo Studio and upload a clear front-facing image. Choose the 3.5 x 4.5 cm size preset (413 x 531 pixels at 300 DPI). Adjust the crop so your face is centered and the required head space is visible. Use the background option only when the application allows it.

Set the digital file size

If the portal gives a KB limit, use the custom KB output option, then inspect the downloaded file's actual size and clarity. Reducing KB too far can make facial detail look soft. Check the photo at full size before uploading it.

Print several copies on one sheet

For physical copies, select a 4 x 6 or A4 print sheet and preview the arrangement before downloading. In your printer settings, use Actual size or 100% scaling; Fit to page can change the measured photo size. A home printer may leave an edge if it does not support borderless printing.
